GPS-GPRS-GSM-UHF Sensors

  • Send large amounts of data through telecommunications networks.
  • Collect position, movement, light and other data.
  • High-efficiency acceleration/activity data.
  • Two-way communication enables re-tasking after deployment.
  • Allow high-resolution data collection with sophisticated data collection regimes.
  • When GPRS data sending is not possible, data are sent via GSM.
  • e-obs units include "pinger" for VHF-like location abilities.

e-obs provides top-line sensors (starting at 43g - and 25g units coming soon!), with the ability to collect high-resolution data and sophisticated data collection regimes that respond to activity and movement.  Selective and very high data-rates (1 Hz series as a basic tool) in combination with acelearation data, allow insights into much more than monitoring - into behavior, trajectory, and animal intention.

Data transmission using GPRS communications are provide 10x efficiency gains for extremely high-resolution data at very low costs.  E-OBS units are designed to provide investigators the ability to target specific and important research questions - exemplified by the list of top-tier journals featuring studies that used E-OBS materials.

For smaller birds and species with lower weight needs, see the GPS-GSM page (click here).
